Springs Preserve Photovoltaic Park

Location: Las Vegas, Nevada
Builder: Sunpower Corporation

Springs Preserve is a public visitor center with displays and events focused on sustainability in the desert environment. The power output from photovoltaic arrays over the parking areas is enhanced by pre-tensioned fabric membranes that are shaped to reflect light back to the underside of bifacial PV panels. The PV panels rotate throughout the day to optimize orientation relative to the sun. Featured as a Fabric Architecture magazine cover story and in the paper “Structures Using Uncurved or Minimally Curved Tensioned Fabric Membranes”.
